Rhythm of Life by John Fitzmaurice

Rhythm of Life by John Fitzmaurice

About

This piece was born from the idea of recreating a traditionally crafted timber cello, by changing its characteristics and reproducing it in a contemporary form. By using both Corten and stainless steel and abstracting the shape, it has morphed into human overtones.

John Fitzmaurice was born in Sydney, and now lives on the NSW Central Coast. He works in a variety of materials; stone, timber, fibre glass, Corten steel, and stainless steel. His works are inspired by natural forms and everyday objects which are transformed with abstraction and humour. Working from home, he prefers making large outdoor pieces with durability and quality being of high importance.

The Rhythm of Life is currently in the process of being moved, we will reveal its new home soon.
