Denman Prospect is Australia’s first suburb to have minimum requirements for solar installation on all dwellings.
What are the minimum requirements?
Every house in Denman will have a minimum 6.6kW system that will generate approximately 8,733kWh of clean electricity per year.
Can I add a solar battery?
Purchasers also have the option to upgrade their minimum solar array to include a 9.6k/Wh battery to allow greater control of how you use your energy, including being able to store your electricity to use in the evenings and avoid the higher costs at peak times.
What do I need to know when designing my home?
When designing your home you should consider the layout of the solar panels and incorporate it in your home design. Check the resources section below for more information.
Choosing your solar provider
Our preferred supplier for solar installation is Harvey Norman Commercial. Contact details for the team at Harvey Norman Commercial are available in the documents linked on this webpage. If you wish to arrange an alternative solar provider, please follow the steps below.
The process for installing an alternative solar system of your choice is as follows:
- Please provide our design team with details of your proposed system, including colour, kW, manufacturer, and warranty period. A brochure or link to the website would be helpful
- We will consider your proposed system and let you know whether it meets the minimum requirements for Denman Prospect.
- You will also need to purchase a Home Energy Management System, which is now a mandatory requirement in Denman Prospect. A quote/tax invoice for this will need to be provided to the design team, who will review this, and evidence of installation will need to be provided to the design team.
- Please provide the Electrical Safety Certificate from the ACT Government on completion.
