Public Art a Priority at Denman Prospect
Public Art a Priority at Denman Prospect
The first piece of public art for Denman Prospect will be a towering kinetic sculpture, Capital Estate Developments has revealed.
The work is by Phil Price, a New Zealand sculptor whose work is well-known to Canberrans including the magnificent “Journeys” kinetic sculpture at the entrance to Canberra Airport, and sculptures on Yamba Drive and Drakeford Drive.
Director – Project Delivery, Nick McDonald-Crowley said the ethos behind the development at Denman Prospect was underpinned by an absolute commitment to quality and excellence in urban design, incorporating landscaping and public art, already demonstrated by the Snow Family’s development of Canberra Airport.
“The first sculpture to be commissioned for Denman Prospect will be a fabulous piece inspired by “The Dancer 2003”.
“Phil’s sculptures are usually kinetic which definitely gives an element of interaction and fun when they move. He uses lightweight materials and often vivid colours. Kids and adults alike love them.
“You only have to look at the magnificent landscaping and public art at Canberra Airport to get a taste of the quality that will be delivered at Denman Prospect, and this is just the first tranche with much more to come.
“Before we’ve even auctioned the first blocks, Denman Prospect is well on its way to being Canberra’s most remarkable suburb.”
The first auction for blocks at Denman Prospect will be conducted at the National Convention Centre ballroom at 10am on Saturday October 17.
