Have you seen the Eclipse at Denman Prospect?
‘Eclipse‘ is a curved stainless steel sculpture by Australian artist Michael Snape and is made up of figures drifting, moving, swimming and dancing in a sphere on top of the water.
Mr Snape describes the figures are like the clouds that brush across the Canberra landscape with the negative spaces enabling people to look through the sculpture rather than just at it.
A graduate of the National Art School in Sydney, Mr Snape’s sculptures are born from detailed drawings brought to life through the process of laser-cutting and cold-pressing steel sheets.
His works are represented in leading museum collections including the Art Gallery of New South Wales and The Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.
The installation of Eclipse comes a week after Protoplasm, a kinetic piece by New Zealand sculptor Phil Price, was installed in the north-west corner of the entry pond park.
